How to apply the vinyls

The vinyls are applied using the water-and-soap technique, which lets you reposition them before the adhesive fully cures. Follow these steps:

1. Prepare the surface. If applying on raw MDF, sand with fine-grit sandpaper and thoroughly clean off the resulting dust. If the surface is laminated board, a thorough cleaning is enough. Dust is the vinyl’s main enemy.
2. Prepare the mixture. Fill a spray bottle with water and a few drops of dish soap.
3. Apply the vinyl. Spray the surface generously with water and place the vinyl piece on top. The water film lets you slide it and adjust it to the exact position.
4. Remove the water. Using a vinyl squeegee or a credit card wrapped in a soft cloth, push the water from the centre towards the edges with firm, even strokes.
5. Let it dry. Repeat the water removal step at intervals of several hours to make sure no moisture is trapped underneath. Let it dry completely before the next step.
6. Trim the excess. With a sharp cutter, trim the excess edges once the vinyl is completely dry and adhered.
