How to apply the vinyls

The vinyls are applied using the water and soap technique, which allows you to reposition them before the adhesive cures permanently. Follow these steps:

1. Prepare the surface. If applying to raw MDF, sand with fine-grit sandpaper and thoroughly clean the resulting dust. If the surface is a laminated board, a thorough cleaning is sufficient. Dust is the vinyl’s main enemy.
2. Prepare the mixture. Fill a spray bottle with water and a few drops of dish soap.
3. Apply the vinyl. Spray water generously onto the surface and place the vinyl piece on top. The water film will allow you to slide and adjust it to the exact position.
4. Remove the water. With a vinyl spatula or a credit card wrapped in a soft cloth, push the water from the center toward the edges with firm, uniform movements.
5. Let it dry. Repeat the water removal operation at intervals of several hours to ensure no trapped moisture remains. Let it dry completely before the next step.
6. Trim the excess. With a well-sharpened cutter, trim the excess edges once the vinyl is completely dry and adhered.
